What We Offer

Standardized Patient

With access to a large population of Standardized Patients (SP) or actors, ViaSTAR assists in training patients to portray a specific illness. The use of SPs tailors your education around communication, ethics, and the humanistic aspect of medicine. Examples of Standardized Patient encounters may include:

  • Consenting a patient for a procedure
  • System-based complaints for evaluating History Taking and Physical Exam competency
  • Defusing a difficult situation with a psychiatric client
  • Discharge Planning
  • Delivering information (“bad news”) to family members
  • Evaluating medical knowledge
